What a world, what a world, what a freakin' world.
- "Most women don't go into comic stores"
>_> Well, we'll just pretend that didn't hurt like a kick to the groin and three generations of my family didn't just sit up from their assorted beds and projectile vomit against the far wall. I get that manga is crack and all, but mother-fucker, way to generalize!
Seriously, I doubt myself,
glockgal or
karabou would be who/what we are today without Classic Marvel or DC to have enlighten us in our youth. So, the demographic of women readers seems to have upped in the passed ten years. Well, it couldn't possibly be because we used to sit in your prime demographic as Children-Teen [6-19 years of age] and suddenly we progress pass the great Two-Oh and you're wowed by our staying power and the substantial presence of our X-chromosome.
My dad actually still thinks comic books is the governments way of brain-washing the masses, which if you know anything about the comic genre in the 1930-1940's, it isn't all that far from the truth.
The comics seen now aren't the comics of today because chicks have prissied up the interest list. Comic making is the same in or out of the states, yes format differs, but producing a product of high-quality will find interested buyers regardless of fucking demographics. Seriously, remember when that collective of writers and artists left Marvel/DC and spawned Image in the early 90's and we were all over ourselves with joy for the comic industry finally stepping up their worth... yeah, good times.
Because, strange as it may seem most people interested in Comics as a whole stay interested for life, turn around and raise their kids interested in the field and their kids-kids. Sounds crazy, but that's pretty much how it works.... you, you goddamn crackwhores.
Man, I wish I'd made those VIZ people at Otakon squirm a bit more. Not that they're to blame but it just felt damn good, you know.... yeah
*my qualm is the comment not the article, although they still come off as an ass to me*
- Apparently it's "a real white-bread industry," according to Gary Groth, editor of The Comics Journal and co-founder of alternative publisher Fantagraphics.

Yes, well, Zombies are inherently evil. Obviously the child must be too. I say, the only justifiable punishment is to have the Principle eat his brains. Oh, wait, US-school system? Too late.

Can't have a comic rant without a Manga rec and shush you, I'm not being hypocritical. I recommend what is worth an investment not trendily suitable. Oh, man, this just makes me want to rage at the whole Rising Stars of Manga thing again. Maybe I should just meet
ali_wildgoose for lunch and have it off again in person. She's seems yet to be deterred by my insightful yet entirely profane rantings on the comic industry. Or maybe she's just dead-good at faking. <.<
Right, the Rec. Alichino.
I fairly sure no words I can say will do it justice. Just, yeah... *adores Hyura*

You miss a day you miss a world of crazy, although I've actually been missing around two weeks. There are fumes all over my place, paint fumes to be sure but still I've been at my sisters and intend to stay there for a while yet, migraines providing. Just thought, if anyone was trying to get a hold of me I'm not here, well in the existential sense of the word maybe but the whole on-line being, not so much. So, if you're thinking I hate you and that's why I'm not replying, well, you're 50/50 on that one. I am pretty full-up with hate lately.

You can carve yourself anyway you like, princess, I'll still think you're the prettiest pumpkin in the patch! <3

Of course shops in Austin are awesome so maybe it's a special case since I've been to other towns and even I, the hardcore lover of comic shops, wanted a nice clean book store with employees that could bother to look up from the Playstation when someone walked in the door (ah Bakersfield, the comic shop bane.)
Heh, ah RSOM. I'm with you on that one.
I'm not sure this comment is coherent! I needs me some sleep...

(Don't hate me, it's not my fault I'm psychotic and randomly spazz at you. *flails*)
Oh, and I heard about that zombie thing. Yes, clearly a terrorist threat to overrun his school with zombies. Good to know his grandparents were keeping a close eye on him. Young people can't be trusted.
