Now that I'm sober enough to actually read your post--BSG. Now, while I like that show, oh my god can there be any more drama???. And stop thinking you're the best sci-fi show evar cause all you are is a drama set in space. A good drama, even if I want to kill you sometimes.

I haven't watched Dr. Who, so I have no clue what this post is about anyways. Just felt like making a BSG rant.

It was a good rant. It belonged exactly here. It has a happy home.

Who rant is just based on the MASS of people being disappointed in the overly Sci-Fi finale that didn't give in to interpersonal-drama that apparently starved from fangirls lives. I don't get why people tune into a show about a wandering loner-alien and his adventurous, if your repeated main gripe is that it's in inhuman of him to have 1) abandoned so-and-so 2) not got the girl 3) carry on alone? It is not the Doctor & Friends/Lover/Concubine Show! It is the "Doctor Who", end of fucking title.

I especially hate people who over-identify with a character and then project their views onto them. Declaring "[Insert Favorite Character] is the most wrong character ever, because I didn't get to see what I wanted"... when in fact, if they paid any attention to Old Who at all they'd see there were characters wronged far greater; Adric who was very martyred. Or Ace who was forgotten, literally. Can't even say she had a tragic end because there wasn't any, she was just there one day and gone the next. For fuck's sake, the first Doctor ever, even abandoned his own biological grand-daughter. It set the precedent. It's what he does if he thinks it's for the greater good, in his overtly high-minded fashion. So the fuck what this new character didn't venture forth and have ten-thousand space babies; they instead all got written off into endings, where they lived happily on. They act like it's a crime!

I'll tell you what's a crime, that this fandom doesn't have an ejector seat. srsly. *frumps*

It was the most Sci-Fi ending of all Sci-Fi ending's that I've seen in a looong time and it was damn good, I tell ya'.

...ugh fans. I think this is the precise reason why I never get involved in a fandom. I just lurk around and stay out of most of the stupidity. And now I think I should watch Dr. Who cause it sounds awesome.

You know, that is the thing with all fandoms (the lack of an ejector seat for the crazy).

That's why I'm glad to have Naruto to fall back on. Such a devilishly plotted Shonen manga that you don't have time for fandom to wank at it before a new reveal cripples your theorem or your favorite pairing is obliterated on account of Ninja!War....

That's shouldn't make me grin in maniacal glee... and yet it does, every time.

And BSG is very good! It has a lot of poitics and philosophy and hwatnot in addition to the sex. And very little of the romance works out, so we can kind of just ignore it if we want to. AND, I prefer BSG pacing to the pacing in Dr. Who.

My prejudice for BSG stems from something deeper. I should have said Torchwood, as it is the epitome of all the crap writing in the kingdom of SciFi, but as it turns out I'm just an old school snob and can't wait for a window to make a cheap dig.
