I'm having one of those fucking rare and crazy morning, where you dragged your ass in at sunrise and dropped dead on the stoop, wake-up oddly energetic not enough hours later with crazy hair and mushed up make-up and you can't help but misguidedly think "Hey, this looks pretty good actually".

Okay, maybe that doesn't happen to everyone. That why I said "fucking rare and crazy". In any case, this post is for the Sisters Curry, both of which I promised I'd not talk shit and make with the recap.

Uh, where to start. MangaNEXT was neat, but the best part was staying with family I don't see as often as I liked. One upon a lifetime ago, I'd gotten used to stumbling in well after the sun had knocked out and having my aunt Madrid layout some Ecuadorian cuisine and my best cousin Karen to sit up till wee bitching about satellite TV.

Which is EXACTLY what happened, ten years later. Odd sort of coming home.

At the Con, My brother and The Chibster came with which was odd but nice to have such utterly different yet devoted companions. There was a Katie with a Kyle just beside us, gleefully red-carding bad costumes. There was an Elisa & Sarah who were sometimes baby-sitters, sometimes child wrestlers and at no time kidnappers. They are always, always awesome... but you see, a thing started that day which this weekend I have to try and live up to.

And now I'll take a minute to explain. See, The Chibster loves people. LOVES 'EM. From minute one, she is suddenly your best friend. And she started inviting people home, to her birthday party and refusing to take no for an answer. SO people said yes. Lots of people. We [the parental units/part planners] were to learn about it quite a while later, now it's all chicken-without-a-head time, but it's funny and good, because we probably wouldn't have gotten off our asses to be nearly this organized had she not created a whole vortex of Chibster love right there smack in the middle of November.
Aria - Age Four

And now for a little versatility. I went to Maine got ill and missed everything but Gigi on lifetime. It's perfectly all right since I like Gigi and I like Maine and I can think of a million worse places to be ill and confined with. I got a crazed yen for lobster out of it, one that hasn't gone away. Also managed to shit out THIS piece of pretty.
While I was in Maine, Suicide City played an all-ages gig at CBGB's.

Why does this bare mentioning?

Am I obsessed about some obscure Brooklyn band I chanced upon at a con?

You better believe I am! Between the increasing/depressing happenstance of more and more decent New York venues closing (such as the Continental), it's never too young to have your first taste of a live show. I really believe that. Mostly because it's good to get jaded early on, set standards, to not be drawn in by the machine, because you don't want to be twenty-one going to your first ever concert. Really you don't. You're liable to get stuck watching something at Roseland, or worse yet Radio City and feel disenchanted about live music for the rest of your life. How are kids supposed to know how to bar hop/club safely, if no parent is willing to teach them? It's not like they're not going to do it come sixteen, so . . . preparedness is next to godliness, or something. OK. I'm rambling now, but this is still an important issue with me.

The point was given that this band is twelve point of awesome and CBGB's was closing, even with my ass in Maine the kids NEEEEDED to attend this gig. They would suffer for it for the rest of their lives. Really. SO I thrust funds at their mum, give them a disposable camera and access to my wardrobe and head out to Maine.

Photos of the actual performance turned out pretty shit, but when I saw them a month later @ the Trash Bar, I made sure to make up the difference, with a little help from my cousin Sean. <3

Then there was a plethora of indulgent celebratory days of something to do with being born. Man, birthdays are annoying especially when they're all pilled up in one weekend. Fun was had, a wig suffered mercilessly.

Now, somewhere neatly in there I'm supposed to re-cap the last nights Voodoo Terror Tribe show, Halloween's Death by Doll/Bellmer Doll's show and throw in that The Chibster is celebrating her transformation from four to five this very tomorrow weekend.

I am fucking tired. . . . School sucks, work kills, love y'all but if I EVER hear one person complain about me not posting pictures of myself I will kill. Do you understand me?!
