year of the ox
I have people poking at my home. They will be doing so all week. She's been needing a facelift for some time now, it's all very exciting, in a head-achy sort of way. So, to be sure I'm not to forgetful I'll list a few things worth noting.
  • NY ComicCon is a go!* Deliberating on which kid(s) to bring.**
  • Leaving on the Feb 9th to Florida for ceremonious things. Back on the 17th.
  • Thinking of having an art-sale to keep me busy whilst I'm away....
  • ...only [livejournal.com profile] ali_wildgoose & [livejournal.com profile] heidi8 should really get back to me with specifics, since they're my only outstanding (which I haven't heard from)***.
  • Guess whats? I've got a President I can respect. Never thought I'd see the day. Also, I voted for him. Equally shocking realization, each and every single morning.
  • [livejournal.com profile] akickinthehead? Dude. While I predicted this, I'm still greatly saddened by it.Waaaah!
  • Sending postcards out late, but I made a variety of three kinds, so despite this image no one knows what they'll get. Stealthy!
  • This year? Already masses better than the last... and its just begun!
*Might have to miss Friday due to house pokings.
**How to choose? RL should have poll options for all things.
***Outstanding Commissions is the ban of my existence. Can't sleep, can't eat, muses'll eat me.
It has been a while, hasn't it. I'll be booking a flight in a couple of hours, but I need the extra $200 to cover taxes. Its insane that taxes is nearly as much as the flight.. I suppose that because its so last minute.

In any case; this means EMERGENCY Art-Sale. I can do twenty $10 sketches... or something of that variety.

Color would be minimal. Traditional media only (meaning pencils, pens and whatever copics I can fit into the overhead) since I can do those on the road and when I get back for MangaNEXT.

If anyone is crazed enough to still want chibi's, I can work that but it'd have to wait till next month when I'm near my computer.

Pay Pal only, (to bhanesidhe @ ohshush . com) since time is of the essence. Any takers? Really, only have three hours to sort these finances out ^^;
Slots Have All Been Filled. Thanks for the interest! )
Regrettably I'm a patient person. I take a lot of hits to the chin before I rant... and then I rant and rant and rant tirelessly until things are resolved. And honestly if I'm pushed to the point to ranting, dear world, you deserve what's coming.

But I realize now, I post more often the rants than the resolutions. So, concerning my previously subject rant, I'm (happily) obliged to report on Con Anti-Harassment Project!

This isn't to say 'oh, something is being done, so I can sit back and feel secure'. Exactly the opposite! Something is being done because we're doing it!

So, Go, Poke-Prod, Contribute, RePost. Inform the masses... thanks for reading and for the little peace of mind that's granted me. ^_^
Conventions can't completely eliminate harassment. They can be prepared to act upon it when it occurs, and send a clear message to harassers that they are not welcome.

Comics oughta be fun. Comic book conventions ought to, as well. But as long as harassment goes on and there is no clear-cut official written rules on convention behavior and what to do in circumstances or physical or mental assault, our hobby runs the risk of alienating and endangering those within it.

There has to be an even medium. Turning a blind-eye isn't an option...neither is going into a blind rage. This isn't a feminist thing, it's a humanist thing. Because we are human first. We should start acting like it. Cross Post. ReBlog. Do Something. please.

As I replied elsewhere is a significantly less eloquent manner, this whole Orphan Works Act thingum has brings out the petty in me. Which is of course the best way to get me to produce works, piss me the fuck off and I'll create a world in which to martyr your kind.
Note the effort:

Portfolio fodder is hard and never fun, but like most vengeful, petty and utterly self-flagellatiing things, the end is ever so satisfying. ^_^

So, my response to (even the concept of) the act, Big Hideous watermarks on Everything. The End.

Meanwhile: MoCCA Art-Festival is this weekend! Skip the Rigmarole: Times, Tables, etc. )
There's a handful of people here I know are going. I wonder how many others will be scuttling under my radar?

Lastly: I want to do [livejournal.com profile] nanomango soooo bad, it's shaming. I've just got this itch, to do everything and to Do It NOW! Maybe I'll just lose my mind before day's end, how neat would that be ^_^

Step 3.C] RE: Holiday Sale. If I haven't replied yet to your commission request or comment that does not mean I'm not doing. Quite the opposite actually, it took more time to write up the "No, I can't take on your work load and here's why" e-mails than I'd thought. You'll be hearing from me soon.
Just sort of wanted to clear up a thing that happens to be biting me on the ass lately. Read more )
Thank you [livejournal.com profile] kuchisake_onna for making such a lovely specimen with which to poke at.

Step 2.C] RE: 2008 Conventions. Every comment, e-mail and response was noted and it cleared up my head in a big way. I can't express my thanks enough, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, no really. Because now I can move onto bigger things.

Like the long awaited...
Step 4. I've been offered a show in LA. I'm to understand it's an infamous Comic Shop that hosts art shows for local artists year-round. A friend, whose cousin owns it, threw my name into the hat and I said yes. [My exact words were "oh, maybe. I don't know, uh, I can't think of--well, I'd like to but I don't have anything--can I get back to you-won't take no for an answer will you?"] There is a bit of contract signing and schedule okay-ing but I'm aiming for spring [preferably April] which gives me from now till then to put together something resembling productivity, creativity and sense. That's good, yeah? :D

As soon as I get confirmation from them I'll have things, like Dates, Times and Location but I'm playing it fairly close to the chest until then.

One major difficulty is wrapping my brain around setting up a gallery when I'm on the other side of the continent. But I'm a big picture girl, the rest will sort itself out...or I'll make an ass of myself, which I'm pretty fine with as well. This is pretty much why I solicited help from a faery, that and handholding.

If by some miracle this manages to work out the show will be dragged then to London, possibly August. And honestly, wherever else I wrangle an invite and a couch to sleep on.

Actually, I think the more difficult part is deciding what to put in it. I'm good with organizing galleries, mounting and transporting things, insurance and reassurances, but I've never been the artist victim in the hot-seat before. Heheh, oooh nerves, they're all tingly just thinking.

This leads to Step 5., no, not the tingling.

Happy Thursday! . . . it is Thursday, right?

My house is a vortex of time-suckage so I'm not sure.

Just want to post about two quick things with regards to the master plan;
Step 2. Looks like MoCCA is much more a Go than I'd have thought. My dad is being amazingly encouraging and I want to see if I can strong-arm my cousin Ronnie' into showcasing art there, to validate the table size and price. Also, I'm now going to NY AnimeFestival. I wasn't before but then Jo Chen announced she was going and I had my credit card in my hand before the page was finished loading. :) I'm weak I know it, but I wouldn't have it any other way. It's good though I always feel a bit stupid to miss out on an event in my own backyard because I couldn't be bothered to get on the D-train. It's nice that East Coast is being rather kind to me lately...unlike the West Coast, who doesn't want to pick up the damned phone.

Step 3. Holiday Art-Sale! I wanted to add, if you want a product, like the Personalized Calendar I did last year, or Prints left over from cons previous, or even items on the CafePress store [before they get pulled down], feel free to ask. I'd be pleased as punch to share things and not just commissions. Fact is, ready made would probably be less stressful than newly made and holiday timely.

That's all for now, so back to the festivities. Funny hats, fancy drinks and Food Comas All Around!
