This Monday is lacking. I'm in need of cheer, aren't you? So, I'm going to recycle something that cheered me up last week... ("The Smoker" by David Schickler).

... only I'm going to add a pleasing graphic and a soundtrack.

[livejournal.com profile] jlh retold this short-story over dinner once. I never forgot it but I never remembered it either, until [livejournal.com profile] bowdlerized linked to it.

So this is for [livejournal.com profile] bowdlerized & [livejournal.com profile] jlh mostly, in gratitude for the general cheering they provide that never goes unrealized. It's almost impossible not to grin after hearing this track. I dare you not to! In fact, I dare you not to whistle.
And now, on to the arduous task of training m'self to be left-handed, out of necessity, not a whim. There's a funny story behind this, 'cept it'd mean typing it. ^^; Another day then.

It's snowing again! This morning I got a brand new crappy coffee pot, Banana Walnut mini-muffins and Phyllis Diller coming on the View. As long as I keep Rosie on mute life really can't get any better than this...

'sfunny, it wasn't till I unearth a BitTorrent of the Mad Monster Party? (1969), my all-time favorite childhood movie, I realized what an influence she's been, to me especially. My "Sinister" LaughTM is directly a result of this amazing woman, and that's saying a lot... Ooh, she's on. Gotta go.

add/edits: mmm, that was both random and abrupt.

I had such a great yesterday, on two hours sleep I did shopping, cleaning, recoded http://ohshush.com/, which is entirely changed but looks remarkably the same ^^;, updated the cafepress store, special ordered my calendars, baked a lemon meringue pie... okay I just ate a lemon meringue pie, but I watched and waited patiently for my sister to bake the pie, and THEN promptly ate it all.

February was such a shit hole of a month; I'm so elated it's over an done with.
a) My paycheck was held over for a month. This is never fun.
b) my motherboard on my home PC fried. TOASTY fry...
c) got stalked, twice. Once on-line, once to my doorstep. Two different people mind you.
d) got on the outs with really close friend and have yet to make peace, which is un-fucking-settling.
e) had to suffer through both Torchwood and Veronica Mars Season Two. (Both such incredible let downs of their predecessors Doctor Who & VM SE1 respectively].
f) had to suffer through both those offenses while on bedrest, with insomnia & artist block :(

It's been March for a hot-minute; I've got a pot of brilliant coffee, a new motherboard with four bad-ass internal industrial fans, "Spaced" on the external hardrive for re-watching whims, a half-dozen crappy 80's movies Christian Slater flicks, and an entire Heroes fandom to mock ruthlessly. Good thing I had that maniacal laughter part down to a science since age four.

Fcuking Love you Phyllis Diller! <3

add/edits s'more:

The only good thing to come from; Season Two Veronica Mars - Enhanced Soundtrack Season 2 (password - ENAKGEM)
Included only for the Dandy Warhols track; Veronica Mars - Enhanced Soundtrack Season 1 (password - APONY)

*These shouldn't have the passwords but I included them just in case I uploaded the wrong zip files.

Feb 1st - Cafepress has these Calendars that I don't especially like. Not that that aren't lovely but they're biggish wall-sized and I like to carry something with that I can carry and doodle on. Conveniently enough VistaPress gave me the option to sample their desktop calendars and I'm simply over the moon about it. The best feature is personalizing it, adding in all the holidays, wiccan, urban, con dates, birthdays etc. and having them neatly included beneath the glossy finish.

[Poll #928077]Essentially, I'll do it through paypal but, if I do it this way I can e-mail you an invoice and you can pay either through paypal or with a credit card or what have you. And shipping is for them to send it to me, not me to send it to you. So, I don't make a profit really, but it's just sort fun and new yearsy and a Yay thing to do.

Feb 2nd - Some More Covers XD.
Blink 182 - Seasons of The Sun [Terry Jacks cover]
Cake - I Will Survive [Gloria Gaynor cover]
Placebo - Bigmouth Strike's Again [Smiths cover]
I have a number more but they're mostly live and therefore of lesser quality. Should I bother?

Feb 3rd - Insomnia is like an Evil Ex that doesn't know when to quit. All you have to do is mention her in passing and BAMM she's all up in your face.
I've caught up with some shows in the mean time:
Dead Like Me -
Season One : Nay )
Feb 4th -
Dead Like Me -
Season Two : Yay )
Feb 5th - Sat up first thing this morning and the world spun out from beneath me. Every item of food I'd digested in the twelve hours previous soon followed.

Feb 6th - I really hate sitting around and doing nothing. Really, there was nothing left to do when you can't even sit upright without a wedge, but to catch up with even more TV.
Torchwood -
Season One : Nay )

Feb 7th - So, very fucking ill. Managed to get the Laptop up and running for the first time since...the last time I was on bedrest. :(

Jan 22 - There comes a time in every persons life when they realizes they can't go another minute without watching a John Hugh's film. Appalled to have learned that my life-long friend J has never seen "Ferris Bueller's Day Off", today is one of those rare and beautiful days. She called out of work, we searched out the DVD [Bueller . . . Bueller . . . Edition], scrapped together the funds and hid-out with cheap take out and too many quilts.

What Ferris Bueller's Day Off Character Are You?

You're fun-loving Ferris Bueller!

Honestly; the thing about Sloane, is that pretty as she is she is delightfully necessary. Not one scheme they ran would have worked without her. She's grounded center in their vortex of stupid. Charismatic, obsessive, impulsive stupid, but stupid nonetheless.

Our party has never had a successful Sloane, we've very much been the dynamic duo. But this evening as it is wouldn't be possible without a beautiful and influential Clio to supply the source for our stupidity.

Jan 24 - Avatar Fan-Art - A.K.A. Tell me I'm not the only person in the world who fan-girls King Bumi!? )

Jan 25 -[livejournal.com profile] bowdlerized is my hero of the month, because I can finally get that Phil Collin's cover out of my head, having now heard the track to death, not that it isn't good. Not at all as it is resplendent but that's just my obsessive-compulsive opinion. See for yourselves.
Postal Service - Against All Odds (Phil Collins cover)
Sex Pistols - My Way [Frank Sinatra Cover] - listening-essential as it is the track that started the addiction [for me]
Gary Jules - Mad World [Tears for Fears Cover] - because this is both beautiful and one of the most listening-essential covers to come out this generation.

Jan 26 - Had a fucking ruin of a day. This having nothing at all to do with weather. I swear.

The one [remarkable] plus; got T-Shirts from Em + Chris and I think I may want to buried in them as there are more perfect than I imagine they could be upon first opening. Seriously, they meld to my flesh <3

Jan 27 - Had a last minute fuck-off to make up for yesterday and kidnapped and [livejournal.com profile] syndara & [livejournal.com profile] jlh for Margaritas + Shortbus. There are no better ways to end a week. EVER. Yay John Cameron Mitchell! Yaaaay, porn! There is NO doing wrong in this equation.

Jan 15 - Spent half the day getting dressed to go all of nowhere. Kids suck. But watching Rattle & Hum to teach them about Martin Luther King Jr. sorta awesome.

Jan 16 -INTESTINES!! )

Jan 17 - I'm still killing myself trying to get a hold of The Postal Service's cover of "Against The Odds". I thought this brilliant piece of resource here [link] would somehow be of help, but NOOOoooo the track provided is all of 29 second long. SUCH a tease! It only made me crave every item on their coveted little list that much more. I am d00m-ed.
The White Stripes - Jolene [Dolly Parton Cover] because it's listed in that cock tease of an article
REM - First We Take Manhattan [Leonard Cohen Cover] because makes me think of [profile] misstuesday
Everclear - Jessie's Girl [Rick Springfield Cover] because now that its stuck in my head, it might as well be stuck in yours

Jan 18 - I'm copy+pasting from jisuk DA account because I know there are people on my f-list who would resent not being informed.
"The last unicorn is coming out on a special edition DVD in WIDESCREEN and remastered audio/video so you can hear Amalthea's awful singing even better! Waaoh dudes. But here is the important part..

The writer of the novel and the screenplay, Peter S. Beagle, is still in legal battles about getting paid for it. He won't get any royalties from the DVD Osales either, frown. But if you buy it through Conlan Press he will get HALF of the profit and you can get it signed by him. And it's only $25! Signed by the writer, so much better than getting it through Amazon. And the unsigned one is only $15, which is cheap. You have no reason to get it anywhere else, unless you can't use Region 1 DVDs.

On a not entirely unrelated note: I have the Last Unicorn remix somewhere amongst the 26,000 tracks on my F-Drive. It is mislabeled and keeps freaking me out when it appears only on random then vanishes into the mist. Curses.
Jan 19 - Ladies and Gentlemen, it is NOT winter in New York. That is certainly not snow I see out my living room window and that is definitely not crystallized breath haunting the native faces. What that is is God's precum, a practical joke on you whiners who don't know better. I'm telling you it is a set up and when you think you've whinged to your heart's content she is going to sit on your face and show you who ownz you. Currently I'm writing an epic letter to Santa and The Efret [not the one you imagine but the cool one who gets shit done] to get the message across next years that we're coming down and kicking your pubeless Assess!! You fucking pussies! Just for that I'm wearing something smart and going to see Bellmer Dolls while you congratulate yourselves on your on-line purchase of the matching set of gloves and scarves to wear to your Gay Prom, you posers you! I'm off to have mouth-sex with Vodka. So Fuck You.

If you were a real New Yorker you'd be http://www.crashmansion.com/ with me, pulling up a stool and show the likes how a REAL New Yorker forages for winter.

Jan 20 - How mad am I that I forgot my camera on the way out last night. SO MAD. And it was such a good night, such a good night* it left me wanting . . . to work, of all things!

Only time appears to be doing that trick documented in Tim Burton's "Big Fish".

There are these torturous and extended moments when the earth stills and no amount of effort on my part bring me closer to my goal . . . and then suddenly I'm wrong and everything is right and perfect, and the guy in charge of the gears throw a switch and the world spins twice as fast to catch up and I'm left exhausted, enthused and utterly stunned.

I guess in that respect you could say I'm in love with my work.

*Remarkably, I came away with more bruises from fighting with seven children for space on the King Size than ALL of last nights scurrying about. Considering how this time last year, the result for a show of the same size were markedly different I am VERY impressed with myself . . . and very much with the kids, too.

Jan 21 - Lately I've taken to re-reading a Scandal in Bohemia, first time since I was maybe 12. Just bits and pieces before bed each night. I've decided I want Irene Adler. Not to have her, but to chase her. I think I maybe always did. TV Husband not withstanding there is so much to be said for the sort of attraction that needs chasing after. The unattainable.

Sick to think that all my romantic yens are equally as cruel as they are self-satisfying.

In a related but entirely random sort of respect; I caught up with my TV Husband on Soapnet earlier where he was arrested apparently for coming out as a lesbian. Bad writers, bad-bad writers. Shoddy detective work, illegal search and seizure, public inquisition without the reading of rights, circumstantial everything just all over the place. It's a good thing Jeffrey Carlson tosses his hair so prettily or I'd have to get a life in that 45 minute span when I wait for the five-year-old to get out of school.

Jan 8th - Being intuitive can be so harassing! The eight-year-old boy I'm caring for is very likely to be left back, again. I hate that I called it two months ago. Through my prodding he's been doing better but not enough to catch up with the rest of the class. This is so dispiriting, for me I mean. He's freaking elated about repeating the grade a third time. It's not that he's lazy, it's that he's too comfortable...I think. I can't really fault him there. 2nd Grade was certainly one of my better school experiences.

Jan 9th - Today I used the Ten Commandments to make a five-year-old cry and remorsefully prepare dinner for her sick mom. I feel powerful evil and have my ubber Christian parents to thank for that! ^___^

Jan 10th - The house is FULL of sickies, with drooling, drippy orifices. Very ew.

Jan 11th - A TV Husband makes it all worthwhile XD
"Almost at cruising altitude" indeed. Now I need shots. I should crawl over to a Clio's and put her giftmas present to good use . . . except I'm afraid the sickies may have got to me. Just ew.

Jan 12th - I vow not to invest any more money into a school that, for four consecutive years, left me feeling anxious and inferior . . . regardless of how they promise to sweeten the pot. Plus, if [livejournal.com profile] jlh's theory is correct, I'll be getting a PHD any day on account of a lifelong and determined non-drivers status. Sweet!

Jan 13th - Yay! Drugs! Can't seem to drink Robitussin fast enough. Very nearly finished "INTESTINES" pic, but I want to give it one last once-over when I'm not high.

Jan 14th - A long-long while ago I wanted to write a post about Covers, how very suddenly they are my life. Not that they're in anyway better than the original or sometimes in any way worse. For me, listening to a cover is more like dipping into another dimension and sucking out its life-stuffs. I simply can't live without it. Very parasitic, my philosophy of Covers. Anyway, on with the sucking!
30 Seconds to Mars - Hunter [Bjork Cover]
Placebo - Running Up That Hill [Kate Bush Cover] Originally Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] machiavellian some 10,000 years ago
The Cure - Hello, I love You [The Doors]
I can't stop listening to The Postal Service - Against the Odds [from the Wicker Park OST] . . . except it's in my head, on account of me not owning it.

IT'S DRIVING ME INSANE.

I may die, honestly.
