2] Creating a Convention Schedule for 2008. <--I could use Friendly help with this one. POLL TIME!!
- In 2006 I managed 13 conventions in 12 months. My god, I wont EVER being doing that again.

- In 2007 I swore off conventions entirely from being burnt out. I did still attend a three but never the whole con; AnimeNEXT as a Food Runner, NYComicCon as a Booze Runner & Cookie Pusher and AnimeBoston doesn't exactly count, because while I managed to have a table I spent the whole convention napping under it feeling ill. And that's that.

- In 2008 I'd like to pick just three or four conventions to actually work [not just attend or booze/food run]. It would be ideal to have one per season, but winter is very difficult on my legs so travel is messy.

[Poll #1091911]
There are a couple of others not included because my interest wasn't exactly peaked; Big Apple Con, Dragon*Con, YaoiCon, NYComicCon. By that I mean I'd be willing to attend but not to work it, if cost weren't so high or I could share a table I might be persuaded. [Otakon is omitted because its shit.]

I don't need to go to cons but I like to. There is something of a community there that I've been without for a year now. My art has suffered for that, so I'd like for this "One Con a Season" scheme to work out, permanently. Just, you know, rotating conventions yearly so I can see more people, places and friends. Not to mention it's profitable with some effort put.

I'll post Step 3 later on tonight.

OK FOR REALZ.
Reasons you should go to Animazement:

1. Uh, I'LL be there. Duh, of course you should go.
2. Every artist I speak with makes freaking BANK at Animazement--these are all artists ranging heavily in style, platforms, and genres. My friend Bob has a very cartoonish "American" style and likes to draw boobs, and he profits. Iris has a gothic style and she always makes a bajillion dollars. Annie's art is CG and almost always mistaken for the creator of whatever fanart she's doing, and she's a thousandaire. Kids buy Kathy's cute stuff. Their parents buy my stuff. We all make bucks.
3. There are some cool fucking artists that go to Animazement. It's a small enough convention where it doesn't feel overwhelming, but you absolutely HAVE TO walk through Artist Alley in order to get to the Dealer's room / certain events, so there is constant traffic--I hardly ever have time to work on commissions at the table because I'm usually talking to someone / handling prints / signing something / at the art auction. But, even though I have almost no time, I still get a lot of commissions, and it's really from people who appreciate your unique style, and not just "I WANT TO BE DRAWN ANIME STYLE ROXORS!!!!!ONE!!!one11!!"
4. Oh, and the art auction is good, too, if you're into that.
5. I won't be living there anymore, but you can proooobably find one of the many artists in the area who will let you stay with them for free. No, seriously.
6. The artists are some of the coolest I've ever met. Every Animazement, it's like a reunion of best friends. Lots of laughter. Lots of debauchery. Lots of good times. It is a very special convention for me--very close to my heart, and everyone I speak to that has attended, artist or not, feels a similar way.
7. And, besides the art fart, AZ has very good guest relations peoples, so they always have really amazing guests / events / panels / the like.

The only other conventions I plan on attending next year are AnimeBoston (god willing I get a table), Otakon (more for the friends part of it), and, if I happen to like it next month, NYAF. Maybe AWA, just because I'm right there. If I do any other con, it'll be in the dealer's room, because my boss is kind--I plan to do AnimeNext in the dealer's room, definitely. But, I want to see you, please!??!

Er, sorry for the 'u's. Stupid small comment box. But yeah, everything fatpuppy said as well. You could stay with me, Kathy, or whoever. It'd be cheap!
